Neighborhood Guide: Cherry Greek & Wash Park

Denver’s Cherry Creek and Washington Park neighborhoods are the height of urban luxury living. Just southeast of the city center, it is the epitome of city living; add lots of green space, eclectic eateries, and boutique shopping.

At the center of Cherry Creek is the high-end fashion mall which is half indoor and half outdoor. Cherry Creek Mall is a newly renovated structure with familiar stores such as Nordstrom and Macy’s as well as international chains such as Zara. It also has a gorgeous multi-level Restoration Hardware showroom. Across the street is more shopping in Cherry Creek North! Local shops, popular restaurants, chic lounges, and contemporary art galleries line the streets.

The shopping is a reason to come but the food is a reason to stay. Sip on a craft latte from artisanal Aviano Coffee, enjoy a sushi lunch at Matsuhisa, grab happy hour at Cherry Creek Grill, and finish off the day with a fine dining experience at Elway’s. There are too many delicious spots to hit all in one day. Don’t forget to try an infamous Cherry Cricket burger or get back to health basics at True Food Kitchen.

Across University Boulevard, you’ll find residential Washington Park. Beautiful historic homes border one of the best and largest parks in Denver. Home to two lakes, a community boathouse, multiple sports facilities, and plenty of lush green grass, the park is outlined by a popular walking and cycling trail. Families and groups spend summer nights and weekends soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the park’s countless amenities.

Just a short walk from the park is quaint and charming Gaylord Street. Two blocks of shops and restaurants right in the middle of residential Wash Park. You will find amazing local establishments including Devil’s Food Bakery for brunch, Reiver’s for sports and bar food, Max Gill & Grill for surf and turf, Washington Park Grill for live music and indulgent entrees, and Homegrown Tap & Dough for pizza and beer. Walk it all off by visiting the shops and boutiques along the rest of the strip.
