Finding the Right Fit

Find your home

Buying a new home is one of the biggest decisions a person can make, and once you have settled on the idea of buying the questions start forming, “Where do I want to buy?” “What sort of house do I want.” One of the most important questions is “What is the ideal size” of a home to best fit your family and lifestyle.

Just like goldilocks and  the three bears, when searching for a home, finding a home too big or too small, simply will not do. Corken + Company is here to help you decide what “Just Right” may be. Tips to help you search for the perfect fit:

Bigger Isn’t Always Better

At first, the size of your home might not seem like a big deal for you. But it is good to remember that the larger the home the more maintenance it will require. If it comes with a large yard to keep up with, or many spare rooms you do not need, it might not be something you want to manage. In addition, more space means more home furnishings. Unless you’re using the space, you could just end up wasting your money on maintaining a big house for no reason.

Maintenance Budget

An important part of owning a home is considering the costs. A bigger home will require more maintenance. A large landscaped yard can run up costs but so can interior cleaning and energy consumption. Discuss your budget with your agent to make sure you are searching for homes that will fit your desired costs.

How Many Rooms?

If you really don’t know what amount of space is ideal for your family, then you need to start simple. This means counting the number of rooms that you’ll need. Think through all the main spaces such as kitchen, living room etc. But also plan ahead if you will be expanding your family and need to prepare for more bedrooms and bathrooms. Consider if you’d like to host family and friends, or have space to entertain. It is good to not have wasted space but to also think about any future growth.

Tour Many Homes

Once you get an idea of the size range that will fit your needs, it’s time to take some tours. Search for homes that are in the appropriate size range that you determined. Our team values each client, and our agents can help you find the right fit for your family. “Real Estate Solutions Without Limits” is our motto, and we want each of our clients to have an experience where they feel empowered and ready to purchase the home of your dreams.
