Neighborhood Guide: Greenwood Village

Greenwood Village

A Suburban Oasis: Greenwood Village

Greenwood Village is a family-centric neighborhood in southeast Denver. It borders Cherry Creek State Park and stretches west across I-25 to Littleton. Enjoy one of the many bars and restaurants of the Denver Tech Center frequented by young corporate professionals or grab one of the 18,000 seats at Fiddler’s Green Ampitheater, a gorgeous outdoor venue on a lush grassy hill, and sing or dance along to your favorite concert. Just minutes from the city and centrally located on a major thoroughfare, all the adventure you could seek is just a short drive away, if not right outside your back door.

Located in Arapahoe County, Greenwood Village resides in one of the top school districts in Colorado: Cherry Creek. Most residents are young or middle-aged families with children. According to Redfin, the average home price is $753k. Many homes are part of associations with community resources available. However, unlike many other suburbs of Denver that have undergone recent and rapid development, Greenwood Village was founded in 1860 during the gold rush and developed into a farming community by the early 1900s. This rich history shows! Many of the homes sit on several acres and include multiple dwelling units. There are homes of all shapes, sizes, and styles. Brand new builds with floor to ceiling windows, quaint country farmhouses with rustic horse barns, traditional sprawling estates with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and everything in between.

Rest assured, you won’t want to venture far from home, but when you do be sure to check out many of the fine dining and quick bite restaurants just a few miles down the road in DTC. Enjoy a hearty steak at the renowned Shanahan’s Steakhouse. Get your seafood fix at legendary Landry’s Seafood House. Grab a craft beer at one of the many breweries in the area or take a quick drive to Park Meadows Mall. During the day, drop by for lunch, shopping, or even bowling and a movie as the businesses bustle about you. DTC is home to many corporations including NBCUniversal, Merril Lynch, and Comcast. It also has several luxury hotels convenient for visiting guests or the occasional staycation.

And yet first and foremost Greenwood Village is a suburban oasis. Cherry Creek Reservoir sits just a few minutes north where families spend weekends boating and swimming. Scattered throughout the neighborhood are several parks and walking trails including a significant section of the gorgeous High Line Canal which stretches almost 71 miles across Denver Metro and surrounding suburbs. It is the best of both worlds; an urban lifestyle but from the safety, comfort, and quiet of suburban Denver. In fact many downtown favorites have opened second and third locations in the alluring Greenwood Village area including Viewhouse, Los Chingones, and Rio Grande.
