Neighborhood Guide: Littleton

With a tree-lined main street, large residential lots, and regular community events, Littleton is an idyllic suburb just a fifteen-minute drive south of Denver’s city center.

History

From its humble beginnings in agriculture, Littleton has always enjoyed a relaxed pace of life. Many of the city’s residences still sit on farming acreage. In fact, a fun family attraction is the Littleton Museum with an interactive children’s exhibit and two 19th-century living history farm sites.

Things to Do

After visiting the museum, you should take a stroll down historic Main Street. Residents love to visit the local shops and eateries. This historic district also hosts many community events throughout the year. These events include a Block Party in June, a Zombie Crawl in October, and a Candlelight Walk just before Thanksgiving. Every August the city also hosts a renowned street fair known as Western Welcome Week that benefits several non-profits local to the area.

One of the city’s newest developments is the Farmhouse at Breckenridge Brewery where many young people frequent. Visitors can sip on one of their 50+ barrel-aged brews in their dog-friendly beer garden. Another great outdoor attraction for the whole family is Hudson Gardens. This is a charming botanic scape of unique plants, wildlife, and water features. When you aren’t out enjoying the city’s many entertaining events and attractions, or exploring the 85 miles of bike trails that surround it, keep in mind Denver is just a short light rail ride away.

Lifestyle

Littleton is a quiet, highly coveted place to live for singles and families alike, combining everyday ease and convenience with quaint small-town allure. With relatively lower rental and sale prices, it is an affordable alternative to some of Denver’s more expensive neighborhoods. The average home price sits at $492k according to Redfin. Amazing schools and direct transportation to downtown Denver make Littleton a head-of-household commuter’s dream.
